Runners and walkers alike are set to go to the start line on Ireland’s longest runway to raise vital funds for two great charities as the Shannon Airport Runway Night Run will once again take place on Shannon Airport Runway this year.
The event will take place at 23:59pm on Friday June 22nd 2018.
This year’s run distance has been set at 5km with all proceeds from the event being split between 2 charities -Clare Crusaders and Share A Dream.
The Clare Crusaders Children’s Clinic provides free therapy and specialist treatment to over 350 children with special needs in County Clare.
The charity is a self-financing service located in Barefield, Ennis. The Clinic receives no state funding and must raise over €250,000 per annum to provide the current level of therapy for children.
Share a Dream is funded entirely from within Ireland and the funds are spent in Ireland for the benefit of children suffering from life threatening illness, chronic disease and disability.
Again, Share a Dream does not receive any government funding and is entirely supported by individuals, community groups and companies – large and small.
The first 1,600 people to register for the run will receive a 20% online discount for parking at Shannon Airport. Event t-shirts will be provided and worn by all race participants.
Those who register for the run will be entered into a raffle with flight prizes including:
2 x return tickets to Barcelona Reus (limited to first 850 entries),
2 x return tickets to Faro (limited to first 1,200 entries),
2 x return tickets to Liverpool (limited to first 1,500 entries),
2 x return tickets to Bristol (for all entries).
Those registered to take part in this year’s race can collect their race packs from Shannon Airport on Thursday 21st June from 12pm-2.30pm and again on Friday 22nd June from 9pm.
Race Night & Route Race Warm up is to be provided by Mr Motivator, Richie Clifford.
This year the race will take on the new Runway overlay continuing along a route which will include both airside & landside areas of the airport.
The race will begin in the usual start point on aircraft parking stand No. 39 and will then exit at the fire station, routing around the airport approach road and finishing outside the terminal building where runners will be greeted by be music & Mr Motivator.
This year will not be a chipped/timed event, although there will be a clock at the finish line.
This year’s event is expected to be fully subscribed quickly so do register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. You can register here: https://sirius.eventmaster.ie/event/5WATQvsEz
