Limerick Food Group will hold Urban Food Fest street food evening in the Milk Market on Thursday June 14th with a ‘Summer Fiesta’ theme in one big Limerick city summer party.
Record crowds of 6,000 people turned out for Urban Food Fest in 2016 for Limerick Food Group’s first event and the voluntary community group has gone from strength to strength since, with last year’s event taking place as part of the Pigtown Culture & Food Series in September.
Founded in 2016, Limerick Food Group is a voluntary group of people working with food in Limerick and wanting to promote it together. Along with key local partners they have organised Urban Food Fest, Pigtown Culture & Food Series, and the Limerick Chowder Championship.
Guests to the upcoming event, which has free entry and will operate a cashless token system (€15 for 5 tokens), can expect the historic market venue to be transformed into a street food mecca as producers, market traders, restaurants, and hotels come together for a unique Limerick food event.
Member of the LFG organizing committee, Olivia O’Sullivan of eatinlimerick.ie, commented, “Come along and sample tasters from various stalls, savoury to sweet, hot and cold, all with a summer theme, and to a summery soundtrack of funky beats courtesy of live entertainment. We are all about promoting local food and drink, and Limerick as a quality food destination, and this event showcases all of that. It’s a great experience and we have learned a lot since our first outing so this year it will be better than ever!”
