Dolan’s Limerick has been named the Best Entertainment Experience in the world at the annual Irish Pubs Global Awards which were held in the Mansion House in Dublin last night.
Dolan’s took away two awards from last night’s ceremony. Along with the Best Entertainment Pub in the Global category, the pub also received the Best Entertainment Experience in Ireland award.
Established in December 1994 Mick and Valerie established Dolan’s Pub on the Dock Road in Limerick with the mission of promoting local and national traditional music acts.
Dolan’s Warehouse was opened in 1998 seeing the creation of a venue with a capacity of 380 people and one that has become recognised as a key destination on the Irish music touring scene and has hosted many Irish and international acts over the years.
Speaking after receiving the awards last night, Mick Dolan said: “Dolan’s Limerick is unique in many ways. As a family-run business we get to know our customers, we are passionate about music and strive to showcase a diverse range of established Irish acts. We support and nurture young upcoming artists .
“Getting this recognition at the Irish Pubs Global awards is a credit to our team and our loyal customers who have helped us to develop the Dolan’s brand over the past 23 years”.
2017 has been a particularly good year for Dolan’s. Earlier this year they received the Pure Magazine Best Venue award and were also the recipients of the Irish Pub Awards Best Music Pub in the South West region. The national finals for the Irish Pub Awards will take place in the RDS in November.
In 2015 Dolan’s Limerick were overall winners of the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year awards.
“We were there when names such as Damien Rice, Damien Dempsey, Bell X1, Duffy and Mick Flannery were starting off. Our support for new local acts has reaped rewards. Band such as Hermitage Green, Fox Jaw, Windings and the Rubberbandits have all been a part of the success of Dolan’s. As many of Ireland’s top artists have become established we have continued these relationships” she added.
The Irish Pubs Global Federation was established with a mission to create, connect and support a global community of Irish hospitality owners, managers and their suppliers to help ensure their continued success and to benefit job creation in Ireland and abroad through the important sectors of hospitality and tourism.
This was the first year that awards nominations were open to the public. Regional winners for each category were chosen from Ireland, UK, Europe, North America and Rest of World, with one overall global winner per category.
Last night’s awards in the Mansion House Dublin were presented by Barry Murphy (Apres Match) and guest speaker was Brian Cody.
