The Limerick Leader have today reported that negotiations are taking place between Netflix and Universal Cable productions for the rights to a new series which is set to be filmed at Troy Studios Limerick later this year.

Anne Sheridan, writing in the Limerick Leader added: “The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are reporting that Syfy, one of Universal’s channels, is near a deal to pick up the Game of Thrones creator’s Nightflyers to series – which could result in a multi-million euro spin-off for Limerick if the deal is sealed.

Earlier this year, the Limerick Leader first reported that NBC Universal has confirmed that a pilot for the series will be filmed in Limerick’s Troy Studios, heralding the start of a potential “mega-industry for the Mid-West.”

It is estimated that up to 500 people will be employed for the duration of the production with many relocating to Limerick for the filming period.

Troy Studios are in the process of identifying properties in or around Limerick that can be used for visiting crew members. According to the studio, all properties will be considered, however they will be looking for entire houses/apartments and, at the moment, are not considering individual room rental.

With the production set to commence in the coming week’s the studio is hoping to identify property ASAP. The current duration of the production is up to 16th December with the possibility of an extension after.

If anyone is interested making a property available to Troy Studios accommodation team or would like to speak with a representative they can email: nightflyersproduction@gmail.com
