Danish retailer Sostrene Grene is to open in Limerick city centre. The brand are set to open later this month on Bedford Row in the city.

The brand, which specializes in home accessories, kitchenware, gift wrap, DIY articles, stationary and small furniture, is rapidly expanding in Ireland with the Limerick store being their 6th in the country.

Søstrene Grene specializes in home accessories, kitchenware, gift wrap, DIY articles, stationary and small furniture.

The brand revolves around the story of the characters Anna and Clara Grene; two sisters who diligently work to create slight, bright differences to everyday life. Having travelled all over the world, the sisters are confident that the dynamic city of Limerick is the perfect place to open their next store.

Sostrene Grene opened their first Irish store in Dun Laoghaire in 2015. With an ever-changing selection of aesthetic products displayed in pleasant subdued lighting and accompanied by the sounds of classical music, the stores give customers a therapeutic break from their busy everyday lives.

Heather and Niall Lawlor of Sostrene Grene Ireland

Heather and Niall Lawlor, the Irish joint venture partners, say they are excited to bring Søstrene Grene to Limerick and add to their existing five Irish Søstrene Grene stores.

Announcing the new Limerick store Niall Lawlor described Limerick as a city with “Beautiful and historic surroundings combined with a confident, urban feel in the city centre”  making the city a perfect location for Søstrene Grene.

“The city is experiencing a rebirth these years as a key shopping destination in the Mid West Region. We are excited to bring some Danish flavour to the buzz, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone who wants to enjoy the Søstrene Grene experience into the store on the September 1 opening day,” Niall Lawlor said.

CEO Mikkel Grene, speaking from the Sostrene Grene headquarters in Denmark says he also looks forward to another store opening in Ireland.

A taste of Sostrene Grene

“We are honoured to have been so warmly welcomed by our Irish customers in our other stores so far. The Irish customers seem to like our Scandinavian design profile and the atmosphere in the stores. I am positive Limerick will be a great new addition to our collection of stores,” Grene said.

In a recent report the online lifestyle site Her.ie Trine Jensen-Burke said of Sostrene Grene: “To fill you in, the Søstrene Grene stores (I used to always make a point out of popping into one whenever I am in my native Oslo – and would never exit empty handed!) are absolute treasure troves for little decor bits, stationery, arts and crafts supply, small furniture, gifts, glassware, party decor, tableware and (so) much more”.
